The Primary classroom is a vibrant, child-centered environment where children engage in purposeful work, develop essential skills and concepts, and cultivate a lifelong love for learning. The essence of a Montessori education is tailored to the specific developmental stage of children aged 3 to 6. At this crucial juncture, children are actively shaping their future selves, driven by a profound curiosity to explore and comprehend the world through their senses. Within the classroom, a diverse array of hands-on, sensory experiences awaits, spanning Practical Life, Math, Language, Culture, and the Arts. Integral to this environment is the cultivation of a nurturing community akin to a Children’s House, fostering social and emotional growth. Guided by a Montessori-trained educator, this setting is finely attuned to each child's needs and interests, safeguarding and nurturing their innate passion for learning. As a result, children emerge from this Primary community equipped with a solid grasp of Math and Language, laying the groundwork for future abstract learning endeavors.
Practical Life
One corner of the classroom is dedicated to practical life activities, such as pouring, spooning, buttoning, and sweeping. These activities help children develop fine motor skills, concentration, and independence in daily tasks.
Sensorial Materials
Another area is dedicated to sensorial exploration, featuring materials that engage the senses and help children refine their perceptions of size, shape, color, texture, sound, and smell. These materials lay the foundation for mathematical and scientific thinking.
Mathematics
A designated math area offers hands-on materials for exploring mathematical concepts such as quantity, numeration, operations, and geometry. Children engage in activities like counting, sorting, pattern-making, and simple arithmetic operations.
Language
The classroom provides various opportunities for language development, including phonetic reading materials, vocabulary cards, storytelling, and language games. Children explore letters, sounds, and words at their own pace, gradually building literacy skills.
Cultural & Science
The curriculum also includes cultural subjects such as geography, history, botany, and zoology. Children explore these topics through hands-on materials, books, maps, and globes, gaining a deeper understanding of the world around them.
Arts and Movement
We dedicate time for group singing and music creation, exploring diverse musical genres and iconic musicians. Children are encouraged to move freely, engaging in dance and yoga to support their developmental need for movement. Additionally, we foster a love for art in all its forms, including student-generated artworks and an appreciation for masterpieces in the fine arts.
